【摘要】:Ethyleneoxideisamajorrawmaterialusedinthemanufactureofnumerousotherbulkindustrialchemicals,andisalsousedasasterilizingagent.Thistestmethodprovidesameansofevaluatingexposuretoethyleneoxideintheworkingenvironment.Examplesofrecommendedoccupationalexposurelimits(OELs)include:aU.S.OccupationalSafetyandHealthAdministration(OSHA)personalexposurelimit(PEL)of1ppm(v)(8-hTWA)andanAmericanConferenceofGovernmentalIndustrialHygienists(ACGIH)ThresholdLimitValue(TLV)of1ppm(v).1.1Thistestmethoddescribesthedeterminationofethyleneoxide(oxirane)inworkplaceatmospheresusingcharcoaltubesamplingmethodology.Subsequentanalysisiscarriedoutbygaschromatography.1.2Thistestmethodiscompatiblewithlowflowratepersonalsamplingequipment:10to200mL/min.Itcanbeusedforpersonalorareamonitoring.1.3Thesamplingmethoddevelopsatime-weightedaveraged(TWA)sampleandcanbeusedtodetermineshort-termexcursions(STE).1.4TheapplicableconcentrationrangefortheTWAsampleisfrom0.3to20ppm(v).1.5TheapplicableconcentrationrangefortheSTEsamplerangesfrom1to1000ppm(v).1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsshallberegardedasthestandard.Inch-poundunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.(FormorespecificsafetyprecautionarystatementsseeSection9and10.2.3and11.1.3.)
